Horse lovers can raise money for equine charities, while doing some Christmas shopping this year.
Give as you Live was set up by former eventer Polly Gowers, and has already raised more than £3m for charity. The site is designed to donate a percentage of the sale price to the shopper’s chosen charity — and now equestrian retailers have signed up too.
Two thousand retailers are involved in the scheme, which allows shoppers turn their online purchases into a way to give to any of the 200,000 charities in the UK.
“Around £7.9billion will be spent online this Christmas and Give as You Live can turn £195m of that into charitable donations, without any extra cost for consumers,” said Polly.
As well as major retailers including Amazon, Tesco and John Lewis — specialist equestrian stores Robinsons Equestrian and and Millbry Hill also are on board with the scheme.
Robinsons gives 2.5% of your purchase price to the charity of your choice, and Millbry Hill gives 3.5%.
“I love that the new stable and turnout rugs I bought last week from Robinsons Equestrian through Give as you Live have also raised £12.50 for charity. Give as you Live helps turn every purchase into guilt free shopping,” added Polly.
Charities such as World Horse Welfare, The Blue Cross and the Countryside Alliance have already benefited from Give as you Live.
Caroline Holden-Coulman from the Blue Cross added: “When supporters shop through Give as you Live it raises additional funds to help the injured and homeless horses and pets and cared for by Blue Cross. We’ve raised nearly £600 through Give as you Live purchases already”.
