Dressage rider Yvonne Losos de Muñiz of the Dominican Republic has launched a broadside against international horse sport’s governing body, the FEI, following her failed attempt to secure Olympic selection.
Ms Losos de Muñiz appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after the FEI chose a Brazilian rider as the Latin American individual representative at the Olympics.
In a statement released on 23 October, Ms Losos de Muñiz said she was quitting dressage after the FEI, she claimed, had branded her a “sore loser and improviser” for appealing.
She had argued that the Brazilian rider had accrued qualifying points at shows where insufficient foreign judges were present.
CAS released its findings on 22 October. It said the FEI bore responsibility for the case arising due to an “administrative oversight”.
The FEI said it had defended the case in a “professional manner” and it was “regrettable” that Ms Losos de Muñiz had left the sport.
