Loose horses cause M25 traffic chaos

  • Loose horses wandering around the M25 caused traffic chaos for commuters this morning (Tuesday 9 October).

Four horses escaped onto the motorway between junctions 22-24 (London Colney, South Mimms and Potters Bar), anti-clockwise causing the road to be shut for over an hour.

“We were contacted at 7.16am with reports of three horses loose on the carriageway,” a spokesman for Hertfordshire Police told H&H.

“But when we arrived there were four animals, which we then herded into the junction 22 slip road before they were picked up and taken to a safe place.

“We are currently investigating how they escaped and who they belong to.”

The road was re-opened around 9am.

    No horses were hurt.
