The 2012 Baileys Horse Feeds/British Breeding/British Equestrian Federation Futurity evaluations at Arena UK yesterday (26 July) saw five Elite premiums awarded, with the highest score of the day going to dressage foal Bathleyhills “Harold”.
Owned and bred by Penny Walster of the Bathleyhills Stud, “Harold” was the top foal, top sports pony and top scorer of the day overall, earning an Elite premium with a score of 9.20.
Harold is by Penny’s own three-year-old stallion, Bathleyhills Monet, by Marieke. A further five of Penny’s foals, all also by Bathleyhills Monet, gained higher first premiums.
“We had a phenomenal day, I’m over the moon, its fabulous,” said a delighted Penny.
Bathleyhills Monet received a higher first premium as a foal in 2009 and went on to be the highest scoring sports pony as a yearling, earning an Elite premium.
“He will be broken in and produced for dressage next year” said Penny. “All our ponies need to be suitable for children so the temperament is paramount, and he has a fantastic temperament.”
Bathleyhills Stud’s other stallion, Langwedh Sunny Jim, also produced an Elite premium foal in the eventing section. Owned and bred by Victoria Leggett, Strictly Dun Dancing, received a score of 9.04. The buckskin filly is out of Willowmeanabusiness by Perspectief.
The top score in the eventing section went to the filly foal, Tregida, owned and bred by Liz and Vin Jones from the Preci Spark Stud; she earned an Elite premium with a score of 9.18. Tregida is by the Oldenburg stallion Royaldik, out of Trecarne by Criminal Law.
Liz and Vin also bred Trevargo, who earned a higher first premium at this venue with a score of 8.91 in eventing. The colt foal is by Grafenstolz, out of Coolmore Clarine by Puissance.
Filly foal, GF Roxanne, owned and bred by Sandy Senior from Glossoms Farm Stud, earned an Elite premium with a score of 9.10 in dressage. She is by the Hannovarian stallion Rhondeo, out of Byzantia by Biotp.
A fifth Elite premium was earned by dressage foal, Champions Limelight, who received a score of 9.02. By the Holstein stallion, Landtanzer, out of Zomar by Gribaldi, he is owned and bred by Alison Smith from the Champion Park Stud.
The highest scoring two-year-old was dressage colt, Cathmor Florian, who earned a higher first premium with a score of 8.94. He is owned by Sarah Watson of Bankside Equestrian and is by Floriscount, out of Classic White by World Classic.
The top scoring show jumper and yearling of the day was Celine, owned and bred by Joan Gray. She is by the Danish Warmblood, Cendy, out of St Pr Fantasia V by Fleurop.
The highest scoring three-year-old was Woodlander Betty Boo, owned by Ali Walton, Maria Delves and the Eilberg Family and bred at the Woodlander Stud. By Benetton Dream out of St Pr Limoncello by Londonderry, she earnt a higher first premium with a score of 8.79 in dressage.
