Co Kildare, Ireland is to have its first international showjumping show.
Coilog Equestrian is hosting the Kilmeague International Outdoor CSI** next month (23-26 August) and is hoping to attract both national and international riders.
The show will be spilt into gold, silver and bronze tours – to cater to different levels of riders and horses – and boasts a prize-fund of more than €46,500.
There will be speed classes, young horse classes and Derbys, with classes for riders from amateur to 1.10m. The feature will be the international grand prix worth over €20,000.
“So far there have been expressions of interest from Canada, Switzerland, UK and South Africa,” said Emer Bermingham from Coilog.
“The idea for an international show has been on the cards for the past three years and the centre recently purchased another eight acres to facilitate the show.
“We hope riders will stay on from Dublin Horse Show to attend. There is a ferries concession and there will be free stabling for horses whose riders are competing in Dublin on different horses”.
