Equine vet Prof Sidney Ricketts awarded doctor of science degree

  • Equine vet Professor Sidney Ricketts has been awarded a doctor of science degree by the University of Bristol.

Prof Ricketts retired as senior partner from Rossdales and from managing partner of Beaufort Cottage Laboratories in April but continues as a consultant to both Rossdales Newmarket and Rossdales Hertfordshire.

He is an expert in equine stud medicine and has also established an equine pathology laboratory which has referrals from 500 other veterinary practices from all over the UK and Europe.

Prof Ricketts began studying at Bristol University’s veterinary school in 1965, andthroughout his career he has continued to support the University. The new Alborada Building at Langford, opened earlier this year, was based upon his design.

The honorary degree was awarded last week in recognition of his outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
