Swedish showjumper Malin Baryard-Johnsson out of Olympics

  • Swedish showjumper Malin Baryard-Johnsson is out of the Olympic team after her horse sustained an injury.

H&M Tornesch was found to have a small tendon injury after the Nations Cup in Falstabo last weekend.

She did not think the bay stallion by Lux had jumped as well as normal and had him examined by the vet.

This means reserve rider Lisen Bratt Fredricsson will take Malin’s place, riding Matrix.

“It is really sad for Malin who was 100% focused on the Olympics, and sad for the team as Tornesch has been in fantastic form,” said chef d’equipe Sylve S ¶derstrand.

“Matrix is obviously not the same experience as Tornesch, but is a very capable horse. They have shown very good results during the season.”
