Event riders competing at Ballindenisk this year could claim a €50,000 bonus, if they win at the venue twice.
The horse trials has announced the “Goresbridge Go For Gold Bonus”, which can be won if the same rider and horse combination wins the CIC*** at either the September or April international – and then goes on to win the CCI*** in September 2013.
“This will be a very exciting bonus for eventing as it will bring the top riders to Ballindenisk to win this large purse, we are thrilled to be involved,” said Martin Donohoe of Goresbridge Horse Sales.
Oliver Townend, winner of the CCI*** in February, said: “I will definitely be there, it’s a great step forward for eventing in Europe.”
Irish eventer Michael Ryan added: “This is a brilliant addition and what we need in Ireland, it will take some winning but it is a lot of money.”
The Ballindenisk International Horse Trials will be held on 12-16 September, the date of the April 2013 international is yet to be confirmed.
