Redwings urges animal lovers to take advantage of tax breaks

  • Redwings Horse Sanctuary is urging animal lovers to take advantage of the inheritance tax breaks in last week’s Budget.

From April 2012, people who leave at least 10% of their estate to charities will pay less inheritance tax – 36% instead of 40%.

It has inspired the awareness-raising Legacy 10 campaign, which is being supported by Sir Richard Branson.

Susan Lennox of Redwings’ said she “sincerely hoped” the new legislation would encourage more people to donate.

“Legacy gifts are a vital part of our funding and enable us to continue and expand our care, support and rehabilitation of neglected and abandoned horses,” she said.

“In these tough times we are running at capacity with resources stretched.”
