The RSPCA is appealing for information after a horse was dumped and left to die in a wood in South Yorkshire.
The horse was found by a member of the public on a footpath in Clayton, near Thursncoe on Thursday 2 February. The horse had died before inspectors arrived.
“We believe this poor animal has been dumped out of the back of a truck or van to die, probably because the owners didn’t want to pay for a vet to treat it or the knackerman to dispose of it,” said an RSPCA spokesman.
“We have seen a number of similar incidents in South Yorkshire, particularly in the Doncaster area, in recent months.”
Anyone who has any information should call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
