Man may have died while rescuing horse from barbed wire


  • A man is thought to have died while trying to rescue his horse, which was caught in barbed wire.

    The police were called to a field close to the A27 in Shoreham, West Sussex, at 2pm yesterday (23 January) where they found the man lying dead and his horse caught up in wire.

    John Chesher was 66 and lived in Old Shoreham Road, Southwick.

    A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Early indications are that the man may have collapsed and died while trying to trying to free his horse from barbed wire.

    “The horse was freed and is uninjured.”
