Cupcake jump at Washington International Horse Show

  • “Will competitors please refrain from eating the jump wings!” – that could have been the plea at the Washington International Horse Show, where one of the obstacles was made of cupcakes.

Local business Georgetown Cupcakes was commissioned to create a jump made of the tasty treats as the final “joker” fence in the international open jumper gambler’s choice costume class at the show.

The $20,000 ( £13,042) class was won by Todd Minikus, riding Sweetheart and wearing an Uncle Sam costume.

He cleared the fence – with wings made of more than 2,000 vanilla cupcakes, frosted with pink buttercream icing – with ease.

Organiser Diana Hosford told H&H: “The jump was used for the entire class and was intact until the fans came down from the stands to take a look and have a taste!”
