A new cross country app has been created for event riders.
You can now walk the course with an iPhone/iPad rather than a measuring wheel.
CrossCountry creates a course map, with jumps overlaid on a Google satellite map. It measures the course with GPS tracking and automatically calculates minute markers. You can also add photos, videos, comments and striding for each jump.
The app was created in Australia and has been used by top eventers including Stuart Tinney, Clayton Fredericks and Shane Rose.
If you go wrong on your course walk, you can use the eraser to retrace your steps.
“While it is based on complex mathematics, riders and officials love the app because it is very easy to use and fast,” said a spokesman for the app.
“It reflects the way you walk a course, predicting the next jump number so you don’t have to type it in. This also alerts you if you have missed a jump.”
CrossCountry for iPhone and iPad 3G can be downloaded from the Appstore and costs £13.49. For more information visit www.crosscountryapp.com
