A working rider from Newmarket has been awarded the “Pathway of Progression” trophy by a stabling firm after top finishes at two local affiliated events.
Rebecca Hilton, an administrator for Newmarket vets Rossdales, received the prize from Scotts of Thrapston at Burghley Horse Trials (1-4 September).
Designed to encourage and reward grassroots riders, the trophy is awarded to the rider with the highest placing in BE100 classes at Carlton Horse Trials and Brigstock Horse Trials.
Alongside the engraved trophy and Scotts of Thrapston goody bag the 29-year-old also won tickets for the Friday at Burghley Horse Trials.
With her horse Hillviewfarm Muddled Up, Rebecca won at Brigstock before coming second at Carlton.
Julia Berrie of Scotts of Thrapston said: “Rebecca has shown great progress at the two horse trials very close to our company base – we look forward to hearing much more about her success in the future.”
Rebecca Hilton said: “I was so shocked when I received the letter in the post telling me I had won.
“Carlton and Brigstock just happened to be my most successful events this season so I’m really proud to have won the award.”
The Northamptonshire based stabling company also runs a “Rider Development Programme” supporting two amateur riders aiming for their first affiliated event.
