A scheme to help newly-qualified vets cope with the challenges of the job to be launched at the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Congress (7-10 September) this year.
BEVA Grad is targeting those who have graduated in the past five years. It aims to help busy new vets build a social life outside of their practice.
Regional gatherings, and an online forum, will enable graduates to meet like-minded people to discuss everything from difficult clients to day-to-day work.
Christopher Elliot, a recent graduate and rep for the south-east, said: “Building a good social network and having the opportunity to discuss shared experiences, should help young vets through what is often a very challenging period in their career.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for BEVA to develop an invaluable relationship with new and recent graduates, helping them to establish themselves as they start their careers in equine practice.”
All BEVA members who have graduated in the past five years will automatically become part of the network.
Newly-qualified vet Camilla Jamieson said: “This is a fantastic idea – I look forward to meeting new equine grads in my area and hope the network really takes off.
The BEVA Congress will take place at the Liverpool Arena Convention Centre with a wide range of topics covered in lectures, panel discussions and interactive round table forums.
