Para-dressage judge Jane Goldsmith has been presented with the British Horse Society Queen’s Award for Equestrianism.
The award is for “outstanding services to equestrianism”.
Jane, a former chief examiner for the BHS and successful competitor in showjumping, eventing and dressage, has trained competitors in all disciplines.
But it is her work in the development of para-dressage the BHS felt sets Jane apart. She has coached riders, including Lee Pearson, to paralympic standard and is a five-star para-judge.
“This is a very exciting,” said Jane who received her award at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead today (Thursday, 28 July).
“It goes without saying that without the friends and support I have had from the BHS this would not have been possible.”
BHS chairman Dr Phil Wadey said: “This is an instance of a recipient who might have earned the award for any one of several achievements — as a distinguished competitor, coach, examiner or administrator.
“But it is her work to develop the world-beating British para dressage team that earned Jane her position at the head of the list of high achieving equestrians
