There were two Elite Premiums awarded at Plumpton College on Tuesday at the 2011 BEF Futurity Evaluations. Another nine youngsters went on to record Higher First Premiums.
Top score of the day (9.09) went to the CHAPS registered dressage sports pony Abbeywoods Chocolate Brownie. This three-year-old bay mare is by Copybush Chiron out of Harroway Pot of Gold (by Harroway Mr Harlequin). She was bred by Mr S Wilson and is now owned by Sarah Ablewhite.
The dressage colt foal Keystone Delino also scored an Elite Premium (9.03) for breeder Suzanne Lavandera of UK Hanoverians. Delino is by Suzanne’s champion stallion Keystone Dimmagio, out of Keystone Walentine, a mare by another of Suzanne’s stallions, Keystone Walentino.
There were also several Higher Firsts awarded. Nicki Bedford’s KWPN filly foal Grenache was awarded a score of 8.99 to be the highest scoring showjumper of the day. She is out of Tropical, a daughter of Ircolando, and is by the jumping stallion Ustinov. Nicki also has a two year old full brother to Grenache, Escobillo.
Scoring 8.89 was Nutwood Rock Tiger for the Nutwood Stud. This thoroughbred colt foal was top of the eventing section. He is by local sire One More Tiger out of True Rockett by Rock King.
The top Endurance score at Plumpton went to Fames Dakota, a pintabian yearling colt by Dakota Ink Spots out of a Parys El Jamaal mare. He is owned by 19-year-old Robyn Crisp.
Evaluator and founder of the United Coloured Stud, Mark Shaw said: “The high demand for places at the Futurity is particularly encouraging, I would like to see a higher proportion of older horses amongst the entries, with the advent of the new ‘equine bridge’ concept, this looks likely to happen.”
Because of high demand for entries, an extra Futurity date has been added to the calendar at the College EC, Keysoe, on the 26th August.
