Christopher Hall will retire from his role as chairman of trustees at World Horse Welfare in December, after six years on the council.
Mr Hall helped to increase the charity’s overseas training projects, set up an investigation unit to deal with welfare cases and campaigned to stop the long distance live transport of horses for slaughter.
During his tenure the charity became the only welfare organisation to be appointed as an associate member of horse sport’s governing body, the FEI.
The deadline for applications for the role is 10 June.
