London 2012 Olympic ticket payments delayed by a week

  • If you’ve applied for 2012 Olympic tickets and been successful then you have another week before money will be taken out of your account.

Originally, those who had been successful in applying for tickets would have money taken from their account between 10 May and 10 June. But organisers have now said that money won’t be debited until next Monday (16 May) at the earliest while they carry out ballots for oversubscribed events.

About 1.8million people applied for 20million tickets — but there are only 6.6million available. The cross-country day at Greenwich was one of the first events to sell out.

If you’ve applied for tickets, keep an eye on your bank or Visa statement from next Monday. Ensure you have enough money in your account and that your card is not about to expire. If your card is rejected, your ticket application may be voided.
