Get advanced tickets for a Shire horse spectacular

  • The 2011 Shire Horse Society Spring Show will be held over three days, 18-20 March, with spectator entrance free on the Friday.

The event, held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, is the largest Shire show in the world, and in 2011 will feature more than 200 horses.

The show opens at 12 noon on Friday 18 March with an auction of Shire horse equipment and memorabilia, and ridden classes start at 1pm.

Saturday and Sunday will be packed days of showing including in-hand, harness, turn-outs and agricultural implement classes.

The Shire Horse Society, a registered charity, helps raise much needed funds to support the threatened breed and secure its future as a working and leisure horse.

David Ralley-Davies, deputy secretary of the Shire Horse Society, said: “It is vital that as a nation we continue to support the Shire horse.

“The Spring Show is a fantastic way to do that, all in the comfort of the wonderful Peterborough exhibition hall. Whatever the weather you can enjoy the majestic and nostalgic sight of these wonderful animals looking their best.”

Discounted advance tickets for Saturday and Sunday of the show are available to purchase on line at www.showground.org.uk or by telephone, tel: 0845 600 5445.
They are priced at family £13.50, adult £7, senior £5 and child £4.
