An interactive e-learning site has been launched by the Pony Club to help its members improve their horsemanship.
The site is also accessible for non-members.
The site, www.ponyprep.org, went live on 16 December.
PonyPrep offers information taken from the Pony Club’s The Manual of Horsemanship and is aimed at 12- and 13-year-old children taking their C efficiency test.
The site has been built with guidance from the Pony Club training committee, and as it grows, the organisation hopes it will expand to incorporate other tests for other levels.
With quizzes, games and videos, as members play they collect points — enabling them to build their dream interactive stable yard and collect tack.
Virtual rosettes are awarded and the names of those with the most will go on a leader board.
“Each time you go on to the site you can learn something new and, as the site develops, the depth of knowledge will increase, helping our members to progress up the training ladder,” said Nikki Herbert, director of Pony Club training.
“PonyPrep is a terrific initiative and the site is delivered in a creative, fun and lively way,” said Pony Club president Lady Lloyd-Webber.
“This will appeal not only to members of all ages, but it will be an invaluable tool for struggling non-horsey parents.”
South Oxfordshire Hunt (Central) branch members tested the site last month.
They pronounced it great fun and a useful learning tool.
