Young riders in London and the south east can now apply for training grants.
The GLL Sports Foundation is offering training grants to young sportsmen and women in London and the southeast who are under 24 years old and have the potential to compete at international level.
The £400,000 fund will be split between successful applicants, each receiving a maximum of £1,500 to be spent on training, travel and equipment over the coming year.
Free access to GLL’s 78 not-for-profit sports centres is also on offer.
GLL started as Greenwich Leisure Limited, but has spread all over the southeast. Since becoming a Sport Foundation in 2008, it has supported almost 2,000 young people in over 50 sports with training grants totalling over £1 million. It hopes to support a further 800 in 2011.
To qualify, riders must live or train in a London or southeast borough in which GLL operates.
