Olympic course-builder David Evans has joined the Bramham International Horse Trials team for 2011.
David built the cross-country course for the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong, as well as for Chatsworth and Blenheim Horse Trials in the UK, and for venues in the US, Canada, South Africa.
He and his team Richard Taylor and Charles Etherington-Smith will support Bramham’s cross-country course-designer Ian Stark.
Former event rider Ian designed at Bramham for the first time this year. His track was considered strong for the three-star level, but was very well received by riders.
David said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Bramham team — the event has gone from strength to strength in the past few years and they’ve really raised the bar.
“Charles, Richard and I are certain we can add to the improvements and produce a course which complements the overall standard of the event.”
David is particularly renowned for his wood carvings, such as the ducks out of the water at Blenheim this year.
Bramham director Nicholas Pritchard described the appointment as a “real boost” for the horse trials, adding: “These are exciting times”.
Bramham International Horse Trials takes place 2-5 June 2011.
