Eventer Nicola Malcolm recovering after Burghley fall

  • Nicola Malcolm is recovering at home in Scotland after a fall at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials on Saturday (4 September).

“I don’t think we’ll be able to keep her out of the saddle for long,” Nicola’s father Andrew told H&H.

“She’s recovering at home and is in a bit of shock but she’ll be fine, no broken bones or head injuries, she’s very lucky.”

The 22-year-old fell from McFly, with whom she’d completed the course on last year, at fence 19 — the Birch Hedge.

The course was held for an hour and she was airlifted to Coventry Hospital. Fortunately Nicola suffered no serious injury and she was discharged the following day to return to Burghley.

    McFly was not injured.
