Firemen were called to rescue a Shetland pony this weekend after it became stuck in bushes.
It’s believed that the tiny pony, from Cleadon, South Tyneside, was bullied into the bushes by a bigger horse that had taken advantage of broken rails to get into its paddock.
Davy Barnes, crew manager form nearby Hebburn Fire Station, told the Shields Gazette: “We managed to put the harness around the bigger horse and lead it away, back into its own field.
“We then managed to calm the Shetland down and help it out of the bushes. It had a few cuts and bruises.”
A vet was called to examine the Shetland pony, but it was not thought to be badly hurt.
