A man in Colorado has been arrested on suspicion of starting a barn fire earlier this month in which 12 horses were killed.
The fire broke out on 9 May at a yard on Uinta Street in Commerce City. As well as 20 horses, chickens and goats were also at the property. Thirteen animals were killed.
Officials believe the fire was started intentionally.
Narciso Amaya-Bustillos, is being held on charges including arson and animal cruelty and is due in court tomorrow (Wednesday, 26 May).
Investigators said they saw Amaya-Bustillos fleeing the property. Three days later he was admitted to hospital with injuries sustained at the yard.
Owners and riders at the stables who lost their horses in the fire have started a fund to build a new shelter for the surviving horses.
