Katie Roberts nailed the show hunter pony tricolour at Royal Windsor Horse Show with a sound performance on Sue Andrews’s 133cm victor, the 2009 HOYS and RIHS winner, Rhoden Master Frederick.
Home producers sealed the remaining three classes, with the reserve award going to Georgia Darlington, 10, and her 122cm winner, Wortley Celebration, posting their first Windsor win.
A Windsor debutante notched up a best-ever career result at the head of the 143cm section, taking a first RIHS ticket into the bargain. Sophie Court, also 10, has owned the smart chesnut Braeglen Symphony since last August, and despite Sophie’s comparative inexperience, the pair showed no sign of nerves either in the class or in the championship.
A pony and rider combination of less than two weeks’ standing headed the working hunter ponies, who faced an uninteresting — if up-to-height — course. Despite having had a fence down, 15-year-old Sannan Bobby Sox scored sufficiently highly in all other sections to win the 143cm class and qualify with Amy White, also 15, deputising for an injured Anneli Bletsoe Brown.
Millie Wonnacott posted her first open win in reserve with Andrea Boyle’s 133cm victor, My Blue Eyed Boy.
