Sam Orde has taken over from Jane Holderness-Roddam as chairman of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
Former event rider Sam is an experienced instructor for the RDA, which she has been involved with for more than 12 years — and deputy chairman since 2006. She is also an instructor for the Pony Club and a joint-master of the Morpeth Hunt.
“I am looking forward to visiting more than 500 RDA groups around the country,” said Sam, who received unanimous support to succeed Jane at the RDA’s AGM in November.
“Having been involved with the RDA for more than 12 years, I know how much benefit and enjoyment RDA gives its 18,000 riders and drivers,” she added.
RDA chief executive Ed Bracher described Sam as a “tireless volunteer” for the RDA, saying he looks forward to working with the new chairman to help the RDA increase opportunities for riders and drivers.
He also thanked outgoing chairman Jane Holderness-Roddam.
“Jane has been an inspiring and dedicated chairman who has given her unswerving support to individual groups and to the charity as a whole,” he said.
“We will miss her enthusiasm and commitment, and her willingness to roll up her sleeves and do whatever necessary to help others.”
