Horse & Hound launches a new page dedicated to grass-roots eventing this week.
Starting Box will run every week throughout the eventing season and is exclusively for coverage of sections from BE80(T) to intermediate novice level, which have not been covered in H&H in recent years.
The focus will be on celebrating the success of working, amateur and up-and-coming event riders.
Each week, Starting Box will include a main report from one horse trials plus stories from other events, news, views and points of interest.
“While eventing fans love following the big names dominating the higher of end of the sport, we all know the smaller classes involve many wonderful stories too, often involving amateur or working riders who achieve great things over smaller courses,” said H&H Editor Lucy Higginson.
“As a lower level weekend eventer myself, I love what we are providing through our new ‘Starting Box’ page — reports from lower level events, news, personality spotting, entertainment and useful debate on topics affecting lower level riders. I hope our readers find it as much fun — we would love to hear your views.”
H&H is now also running results to third place of all sections at British Eventing horse trials throughout the season.
This week’s Starting Box, in the H&H dated 18 March, features Moreton (1) and Isleham.
