‘Horses Inside Out’ lecture-demo at Sparsholt

  • Sparsholt College is hosting a ‘Horses Inside Out’ lecture demonstration by equine therapist Gillian Higgins on Thursday 25 March.

Ms Higgins uses an innovative technique of painting the skeleton and musculature system directly onto a horse to show how it moves and functions.

The demonstration will cover equine anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology and intends to help raise awareness about how a horse functions, in an effort to educate owners and help prevent injuries.

    Specific topics include:

The musculoskeletal system – demonstrating the mechanics of movement in relation to the training and management of horses.

Biomechanics – how posture relates to your horse’s problems, how to correct and prevent them.

Jumping from an anatomical approach, demonstrated by lunging a horse over jumps.

The lecture will take place in the Sparsholt College Equine Centre, near Winchester, Hampshire with doors opening at 10.30am for an 11am start.

Tickets are available in advance for £15 and numbers are restricted. For bookings tel: 01962 776441 or visit: www.sparsholt.ac.uk.

All profits go to Hampshire Air Ambulance.
