World Horse Welfare has put out an appeal for loan homes for riding ponies currently at its Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerset.
“For some reason we are struggling to re-home some lovely ponies, and I’m not really sure why,” said centre manager, Janet Dale.
Among the ponies is Rowanna (pictured top right), a 17-year-old, 12.2hh Welsh pony, ideal for Pony Club activities, who arrived at Glenda Spooner Farm in poor condition in 2008 as part of a welfare case.
Others include Nicky, an 11-year-old, 14.2hh bay mare, who is suitable for hacking (pictured above), and Sherry, a six-year-old Shetland trained for driving and lead rein (pictured below).
“People may be under the impression that we only have companion horses available for re-homing, but this isn’t the case,” added Janet.
“I would encourage anyone looking for a riding horse or pony to consider re-homing from us.”
Applicants are invited to meet the horses and ride them before committing to a loan to ensure a good match.
