Young London riders invited to apply for grant funding

  • Talented young riders, based in London or the South East, have until 1 March to apply for a share of £300,000 in grants being offered by the GLL Sport Foundation.

Successful applicants will either benefit from funding of up to £1,750 to be spent on training, travel and equipment or training awards that allow free access to sports facilities managed by GLL.

GLL is a not-for-profit leisure trust that manages around 70 leisure centres in the London area. Its charitable foundation was launched in March 2008.

To be eligible for a grant the rider must live in or have a training base in one of the boroughs where GLL operates and not be in receipt of UK Sport funding, from the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) or any other sports federation.

The GLL Sport Foundation, whose patron is Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell OBE, aims to give £1.5m to young athletes in London and the South East in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
