Reigning ladies amateur National Hunt champion Lucy Horner was airlifted to hospital yesterday (8 September) following a five-horse pile-up in the second race at Sedgefield.
The amateur rider, who used to be an officer in the Royal Irish Regiment, suffered facial injuries after falling from 13-8 favourite Ravati.
Racing was delayed by 35 minutes while Miss Horner was treated on the course and then airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
