Two donkeys were saved from a fire at a stable block in North Yorkshire last weekend.
The donkeys were rescued by firefighters after a suspected arson attack at the stables off Seamer Road in Scarborough.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it received a call at 4.10am on Saturday 18 July.
A stable block and a horse trailer were set alight in the incident.
“The donkey shed was on fire, but no animals were hurt,” said a spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
“There was 75% fire damage to the stable block and 90% fire damage to the trailer.”
Two-year-old donkey Prince was tethered in a stable.
Owner Rachael Phillips, who runs donkey rides on the beach in the South Bay, told Scarborough Evening news: “Luckily Prince is unharmed. He was tied up and couldn’t have escaped if the fire had got close to him.”
