Seven horses have died in a barn fire in Texas.
The barn in Lake Arlington in Fort Worth, caught fire at about 6am on Monday (18 May).
Several horses escaped when firecrews opened the barn doors, but six died in the fire.
A seventh horse was later euthanized and an eighth, a four-year-old mare, is being treated for severe burns. It is not known whether she will survive.
It is thought about 30 horses had been in the barn. Several more suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
The horses belonged to a well known African-American riding club Circle L 5, which was established in the 1950s.
The owners were alerted to the fire by neighbours who saw smoke.
The cause of the fire is unknown and police are investigating.
