Racing could be up and running at Great Leighs in the near future as several offers to buy the racecourse have come in over the last week.
Deloitte, the administrators of the Essex track, confirmed today (6 February) they had received a number of offers for the business, which will be considered over the weekend.
The interested parties will be contacted by Deloitte, who will then enter into negotiations with a shortlist of preferred bidders.
The bidders can then discuss licence applications with the British Horseracing Authority.
Carlton Siddle, joint administrator and Deloitte partner, said: “We remain hopeful that a sale of the business and the granting of a full licence to new owners can be achieved, allowing the new owners to stage the remaining 2009 fixtures as soon as possible.”
