Pony Club riders jump with the stars at Olympia horse show

  • The eight Pony Club finalists who will compete in the AmTrust Equine Mini Major Relay at Olympia, the London International Horse Show, on 18 December have been announced.

Olympic show jumper Tim Stockdale will give a masterclass to the finalists, who will then team up with international riders for the relay.

One previous winner to emulate is Robert Whitaker, who won this class aged 12 with his uncle Michael Whitaker.

Clare Boardman, Pony Club show jumping secretary, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for our members.

“To be able to have a session with a leading rider and then open the evening performance with a display of their skills and ability in front of a great audience is a fantastic treat.”

The finalists are: Kerstin Deakin (Tynedale hunt), Holly Jones (Cotswold Vale Farmers hunt), Jake Aston (Vale of Aylesbury hunt), Leah McCrady (Wokingham), Isabella Foot (Cattistock hunt), Alanna Patterson (East Down), Jenny Rankin (Seskinore Harriers), Rory Aird (Eglinton hunt), with Elizabeth Gorton (Vale of Aylesbury hunt) as travelling reserve.
