Sue Woodhouse, who was at the forefront of point-to-pointing for over half a century, died on 15 October, aged 78.
Widow of leading owner-rider Dick Woodhouse, who won two Cheltenham Foxhunters’ and rode over 50 winners between the flags, Mrs Woodhouse continued to take a leading role in the sport after her husband’s death, aged 54, in 1983.
She bred and raced such familiar names as Panda Pops, Panda Shandy, Hops And Pops — unbeaten in her four point-to-points — Badger Beer and Rio Pops.
Mrs Woodhouse annually presented trophies in her husband’s memory, for the leading national point-to-point owner-rider, the leading rider at Badbury Rings, and for the hunter chase run at Wincanton.
Mrs Woodhouse’s funeral is at St. Peter’s Church, Pimperne, near Blandford, at 11am on Friday 24 October, followed by a private cremation.
