Jockeys will be competing on a different kind of turf next Tuesday (19 August) when they swap their silks for football boots.
Top names from racing will be taking part in the annual North V South Flat jockeys football match, in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF). The match will be held at York Racecourse on the first day of the Ebor Festival.
Last year Champion jockeys Seb Sanders, Jamie Spencer and Frankie Dettori and Champion Irish jockey Johnny Murtagh took to the pitch. This year, ride commitments dependent, a similar line up will be taking part.
A football match was staged on the same site to mark the start of the Ebor Festival in the 1920s between legendary jockeys including Fred Winter and Gordon Richards.
