New Olympic Games mascot for Team GB

  • Team GB will be roaring into Beijing for the Olympics with their newly named mascot Pride the lion.

Nine-year-old Lilly Sykes from Lincolnshire named the cheeky feline mascot by beating 3,500 entrants in a competition on kids TV channel Nickelodeon. Her prize is a trip to Beijing to watch the games in August.

Lilly said: “A family of lions is called a pride and it reflects how proud we should be of our country and all our Team GB athletes.”
