A show pony producer has praised the organisers of the Northern Counties Pony Association Show, Stafford, after his pony broke her leg and had to be euthanased.
Edward Young of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, was lungeing 13hh Hopevale Fernanda (not pictured) at the show on 29 June when a loose pony careered past her trailing leg bandages.
“My mare also broke loose, but as it had been raining and the ground was very slippery, she rolled over and must have snapped a leg,” said Mr Young.
The pony had to be put down, but Mr Young said other competitors and show staff could not have been more helpful.
Hopevale Fernanda belongs to Angela Hunt of Bakewell, Derbyshire.
