A stallion parade will be held at the Land Rover Burghley horse trials this year (4-7 September).
The parade will be staged on dressage day (Thursday 4 September) by the leading body for British Performance Sport Horses and Ponies (PSHP).
Event director Elizabeth Inman said: “The British Equestrian Federation and PSHP have been working with the industry to improve the quality and breeding of our horses and ponies. We are pleased to be linking with them to showcase these stallions for the future of sport horse breeding.”
The stallions are yet to be confirmed by there will be up to 15 ridden event horse sires, which are all graded, parading in the main ring — which will give breeders a chance to view potential sires for the next season.
This is the second stallion parade put on by PSHP, with the first one in March at Moulton College in Northampton attracting 60 stallions.
Jan Rogers from the BEF told H&H: “15 stallions will be invited and applications are filling up rapidly. Burghley, PSHP and ourselves are all keen to have a graded parade to really try and drive up standards in the eventing industry.”
