Tracy Garside has produced her best ever dressage performance with her dun horse Dunauger (pictured) to take the lead after the first day of competition at Bramham Horse Trials.
The Harrogate-based freelance instructor scored 44.3 after earning particularly high marks from French judge Eric Lieby, who is seated at M.
Tracy, 30, and 11-year-old Dunauger were 28th at Bramham last year after a clear but steady cross-country on their CCI*** debut.
Last year’s Bramham winner William Fox-Pitt is second on Kaleidoscope, a ride he has picked up because owner and regular jockey Jessica Thomas has recently had a baby.
Ruth Edge lies third on Mr Dumbledore, who won Bramham back in 2005 with William Fox-Pitt. Ruth is also fifth on Mayhem III, while Oliver Townend also has two horses in the top 10, Golden Hue (fourth) and Flint Curtis (eighth).
Sara Burdess will be the first competitor in the arena tomorrow morning, performing her test at 9.30am on Shiver St George, and the under-25 national championship also starts tomorrow.
Log back on for daily reports from Bramham and don’t forget to buy H&H next Thursday (12th June) for full report, colour photographs and William Fox-Pitt’s comment.
