Show championship first for British-bred Quarter Horse

  • Doc’s Summer Sky, Terrie Heid-Brazier’s eight year-old American Quarter Horse mare, has won her 50th Open All-Around championship to be awarded the title of AQHA Open All Around Superior.

Sky was the first British-bred Quarter Horse to be awarded an Open All-Round championship in 2003.

This goes to the horse accruing the most points the open division at a particular show, provided those points are gained in three or more show class categories.

Terrie shows Sky in a range of classes including halter (in-hand), trail and hunter under saddle, the latter ridden English-style.

The Open All Round Superior award was clinched at Horse Creek Farm, March, Cambridgeshire at the first East Coast Circuit Show of the season, where she was also Grand Champion Halter Mare.

The victory was all the sweeter as she was bred by David Deptford at Horse Creek Farm. Sky is by his stallion Sovereign Hobby Doc and out of Lynxs Cute Sovereign.
