Ponies and riders from the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre are to have a starring role in the centre’s annual Horses in Harmony gala concert.
Classical supergroup All Angels and composer Dominic Carter lead the musical line-up. Divas Janis Kelly and Malmfrid Sand will sing while riding to numbers from operatic and musical theatre.
Pupils from the Wormwood Scrubs centre, which works with disadvantaged and disabled children, will also star in the scenes.
The centre is run by Sister Mary Joy Landgon and was built with assistance from the Challenge Anneka television programme.
Pupils will spend the days before the concert preparing the ponies and making costumes.
Soprano Janis Kelly has been a mainstay of the concert for the past seven years. She says: “This extraordinary event helps Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre make a huge difference to the quality of life for children in London.”
Horses in Harmony takes place at Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre on Saturday 21 June at 3pm. For more details visit www.wormwoodscrubsponycentre.co.uk
