Top equestrian names are doing their bit for charity by donating to charity auction site Buy Once Give Twice.
Event rider Nick Gauntlet, Canadian dressage rider Rhegan White, former jockey Bob Champion and Burningford Polo club all donated items for auction at various events — with the proceeds going to charity.
But when the original winning bidders decided that they could no longer use their newly bought auction prizes, they returned them to Buy Once Give Twice to be sold for a second time.
Nick Gauntlett has donated a two-day course for two, including an overnight stay at Castle Combe Manor. This originally sold for £4,000 at Breast Cancer Campaign’s Pink Ribbon Ball.
For polo enthusiasts or complete beginners there is a day’s course for two at Burningford. This first sold for £300 a dinner for Changing Faces.
Rhegan White donated her time, selling a lesson on her grand prix schoolmaster at a ball for £700. This will be resold for SPARKS.
And a VIP day at Fontwell races has been donated to benefit the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
The company — dubbed as ‘philanthropic recycling for the 21st century’ — was founded last year by Mia Woodford and Emma Leschallas.
The pair set up the site to resell unwanted lots bought at charity events and auctions.
Ms Woodford said: “So many lots bought at big events were going to waste. And reselling them is ideal as it means charities benefit from the money twice.”
