The iJoyRide riding simulator purports to offer the exercise benefits of riding in the comfort of your own home.
An hour’s riding activity on the £399 iJoyRide can burn the same number of calories as a 30-minute jog at 6mph or a 30-minute bike ride at 9mph, claim the manufacturers.
iJoyRide, made in Japan, is designed to exercise the core muscles of the back and buttocks, the abdominals and the inner thigh.
Martin Onderdonck, of marketing company Zero Gravity Products, said: “As with all exercise equipment, the iJoyRide needs to be used regularly — along with a healthy lifestyle — to get the full benefits.”
The simulator was recently featured on The Channel 4 TV show “Super Size vs Super Skinny”, where a number of larger ladies used it to help reduce their size and improve the appearance.
