Britain’s oldest licensed jockey, David Robinson, (pictured) picked up his 43rd career win at Godstone point-to-point on Sunday (10 February).
The 66-year-old received a wonderful reception from the crowd after his successful return to the saddle. Both David and Bee An Bee, whom he owns and trains, missed last season, but neither showed signs of rustiness as they dictated the members’ race. The pair led throughout to win by six lengths.
After the race David, a beef farmer and grandfather from Rodmell, Sussex, said: “I am absolutely knackered.”
Meanwhile, at the College Valley and North Northumberland meeting at Alnwick, Benny Boy (Adam Waugh) and Wildfield Rufo (Richard Smith) dead-heated for the men’s open. Odds-on favourite Ca Na Trona unseated Oliver Greenall three from home when challenging for the lead.
