Point-to-pointing donates to retrained racehorse charity

  • Almost £53,000 has been raised by the racing world for Retraining of Racehorses (RoR), the charity that retrains and rehomes racehorses.

A cheque was presented to RoR chairman Andrew Parker Bowles at the Point-to-Point Owners’ and Riders’ Association (PPORA) point-to-point meeting at Barbury Racecourse on 12 January.

The PPORA contributed to the money raised between December 2001 and December 2007 by adding £1 to the fixture application fee and to owners’ hunting certificates.

Robert Waley-Cohen, chairman of the point-to-point board, said: “Everyone involved in racing horses appreciates the work that is done to ensure racehorses have a useful life when their career is over.”
