Hamish John Lochore has been nominated for the BHS Queen’s Award by BHS Scotland
Hamish has been involved with every facet of the horse, is an enthusiastic countryman, a Deputy Lord Lieutenant and a conservationist.
After a career in the Army, where he competed regularly, he retired to the family estate at Burgie. At this stage he evented, including at Badminton, and rode in point-to-points. This early involvement led on to him establishing Burgie as the first International Three Day Event in Scotland.
As an ILPH Scottish Field Officer, Hamish set up Belwade Farm, which has become a major rehabilitation centre for the care of horses.
In his role as a commentator, Hamish has given his time freely at every major three-day event throughout the UK. He has also supported the BHS, Pony Club, and British Riding Clubs in extremely successful fund raising.
A true leader, and an example of someone who takes people with him by infectious enthusiasm and vibrant personality, Hamish is long overdue and fully deserving of recognition for his outstanding contribution to equestrianism.
